This exquisite, one-of-a-kind antique love token brooch is a stunning example of 19th-century romantic jewelry. This is a wonderful piece dating to 1894, crafted from sterling silver overlaid with yellow gold and rose gold. It features unique engraved dimensional heart and orange blossoms placed on a steadfast shield of protection that is topped with silver ball finials. Orange blossoms came to symbolize love in the 1800s when Queen Victoria married Prince Albert in 1840. She wore a wreath of orange blossoms in her hair and sprays of blossoms on her bodice. Her husband noticed her affinity for orange blossoms and throughout their years together he gifted her with jewelry with the orange blossom motif. Imbued with its own unique story, this piece is an ideal way for anyone to show their special someone how much they care.

This brooch was crafted in England in 1894, as indicated by the lion and lowercase U hallmarks stamped to the verso. The C-catch is handmade along with the tube hinge. Very good condition with wear commensurate with age and use. The pinback works as intended. Total weight 5.64g. Measures 1.75" x 1".
