Buying Vintage Helps the Environment

Buying vintage helps the environment on a number of levels. According to the World Economic Forum, fashion is the third worst industry for carbon emission contributions, accounting for 5% of the world’s total emissions. Worse, after all of the energy is consumed and emissions created, most of the end product ends up in a landfill. According to the EPA, over 16 million tons of textile waste are disposed of every year in the US alone. If you wear vintage clothing, you can help support sustainable practices of reuse.

Support Small Businesses

The majority of vintage sellers are small businesses, and supporting small businesses is so important, especially during these uncertain times. When you buy from a small business, you are purchasing from an individual who puts their heart and soul into what they do. That means better care and customer service for you.

Better Quality = Better Value

Have you ever purchased something brand new and found a hole in it after only wearing it once? Unfortunately, this is quite common with today’s fast fashion. In the past, garments were made to last, with the expectation that classic pieces would be worn year after year. Vintage clothing was made with higher quality material than modern clothing, and with a higher level of craftsmanship.

Preserve History

Every piece of vintage clothing has a history. There’s something special about imaging the life the garment had before you and the stories it could tell!

Be Uniquely You

I’ll never forget the time I showed up at a formal event and saw the exact dress I was wearing on another guest. Awkward! With vintage clothing, you’ll be the only one in the room with your look. Vintage gives you the opportunity to have fun and show the world who you are, unapologetically.
