This necklace is a gorgeous example of Enrique Ledesma's work, featuring repousse silver X's inlaid with a swath of striking green malachite stone. The necklace measures 15 inches long, and each of the 18 perfectly symmetrical silver and malachite X's measure about 1" long by 5/8" tall. They have dimension and a curved form, measuring about 1/8" deep. Handmade box clasp. Signed Ledesma, Taxco, Hecho En Mexico, 925, with the eagle 3 assay. Very good condition with 3 minor chips that can be seen with a jewelers loupe, they are not noticeable when wearing. Weighs 46.5 grams.
Enrique Ledesma, trained under William Spratling, was one of Taxco's most masterful silversmiths. His pieces typically featured cut stone and sliver compositions that expressed form, color, pattern and line.
